Do You Wanna Build a Snowman? Top Snowman Crafts to Make with Kids

Posted by Elyse Shockley on

Happy New Year, everyone! I hope you all had a relaxing and enjoyable time with your loved ones over the holidays. We sure did!

Every new year brings with it new opportunities to learn and create. And the wintery season is a wonderful time to do this. There is so much fun to be had outside when snow is here! Kids always love building their own snowman, making snow angels, having snowball fights, and just exploring the beauty of winter. It is a very magical time to play and learn outside. But on grey days when the cold traps you indoors, you need a little something special up your sleeve to keep the kids entertained.

That’s why we love turning to Mr. Snowman in our house. I tell you, kids love their snowmen! With the first trickle of snow, they already have a vision of how they’ll dress up their snowy friend and keep him forever. So, for those occasional snow days, here are the best snowman crafts you can do at home. From the simple, to the yummy, these little guys are sure to keep little hands busy and little faces smiling.

Paper Plate Snowman

This first craft is a very simple snowman craft from I Heart Crafty Things. It makes use of things you probably have lying around the house. Even the smaller kids can handle putting together this cool snowman!

Get the full instructions here. What I love about this craft is you could use your leftover gift wrapping and Christmas party stuff instead of buying things at the craft store. You could use leftover wrapping paper cut in circles for the buttons, ribbons from presents you received, and paper plates from the party. This craft would be perfect to hang in their rooms, or by the window to always remind them of their beloved snowman friend.

Snowman Marshmallow Pops

Now for the yummy! Meaghan Mountford who blogs at Craft Gossip shares this tasty snowman treat everyone will enjoy using marshmallows, and candy! Here, she uses sour candy, but you can surely use an all chocolate ensemble, use a barbeque skewer instead of lollipop sticks, and use as a topper for your hot chocolate. Find the “recipe” here.
