Every Wednesday, we challenge our members to a fun DIY project to get their creative juices flowing and some healthy competition going!

This month we’ve been focused on working with wood! Here’s a round-up of all the challenges featured in the Facebook group this month, including a beautiful piece of wall art made by yours truly using my mermaid vinyl decal as a stencil!

Elyse’s Mermaid Stencil

Shop my mermaid stencil in the Just Sayin’ Vinyl shop to make your own!

This is a super easy project that only takes 4 steps using my mermaid stencil:

  1. Paint the board any color you want. This will be the color of your stencil. I went with gold!
  2. Once the paint has dried, apply the vinyl stencil slowly and carefully making sure it has adhered well.
  3. Once the vinyl is crisply and clearly applied, spray paint over it with your top coat. Mine is white.
  4. Once the top coat has dried remove the vinyl stencil slowly and carefully -- I recommend using tweezers.

And voila! You’ve got a beautiful mermaid stencil for a handmade touch to your bathroom!

Painted Wooden Spoons

Little Bit Funky painted the rainbow with her wooden spoons!

Add a pop of color to your kitchen with these wooden spoons made by Little Bit Funky. They’re so easy to make it’d almost be a crime to leave your wooden spoons as they are. Just sand them down to get them nice and shiny and dip them in any color of your choosing.

Stick with one shade or paint the rainbow! You won’t want to keep these little beauties in your drawer.

Paint-By-Number Hex Symbol Coasters

These hex symbol coasters by Design*Sponge are so beautiful you won’t want to use them!

Design*Sponge has put together a super easy tutorial on how to create these gorgeous hex symbol coasters based on Pennsylvania Dutch folk art. These symbols are said to bring good fortune and happiness for hundreds of years. We’ll take it!

These would make a cute handmade gift or as decorative wall pieces! Let your imagination run wild.

Chalkboard Cheese Trays

These cute boards are anything but chalk and cheese!

Continuing with the food theme, how unique are these chalkboard cheese trays by Brit + Co.? The wonderful thing about them is that not only do they look great, but they’re super useful too for labeling the cheese! Find out how to make your own here.

We can’t wait to schedule our next wine and cheese party!

Homemade Hanging Gardens

You don’t need to visit Babylon for these hanging gardens by Homemade Modern.

If you’ve always wanted to grow your own herb garden but you simply don’t have the outdoor space, these hanging gardens by Homemade Modern are the PERFECT solution for you -- plus, they double as a super gorgeous conversation piece!

Get the very helpful tutorial on the Homemade Modern website and prepare to wow your (dinner) guests!
